The Assad regime has pledged not to use chemical weapons against the various factions of the Syrian Uprising, which public opinion sees as a red line for intervention. Obama and the United Nations have urged them to only use “conventional weapons,” meaning the current internationally accepted methods of killing people. Not sure it matters much to the 60,000 people who are already dead. As my colleague Brian McFadden pointed out to me, bullets are very basic chemical weapons.
